Crews will begin picking up discarded items in Washington this week. The City of Washington’s annual spring cleanup starts Monday, with pickup happening with regular weekly garbage routes. Some large items will need stickers to be picked up. Couches, desks, mattresses, dressers and other furniture requires $6 stickers. Also, $20 stickers must be used for large appliances including washers, refrigerators, air conditioners and televisions.
All loose items must be in a cardboard box or clear plastic bag and materials must be in distinct piles, including recyclable material. Construction materials up to 100 pounds per residence may be placed on the curb, and there is a 100 pound carpet limit. Hazardous materials, batteries, tires, waste oil and garbage bags without a sticker will be left behind.
