It has been over a week since the Washington Demon girls’ soccer team (0-5 overall; 0-2 Southeast) has put a goal on the scoreboard. The Demons continue Southeast Conference play tonight in Fort Madison against the Bloodhounds (0-5 overall) in a battle of winless teams.

Two hundred and 12 minutes of game time has elapsed since the Demons scored their last goal. Despite the offensive struggles, senior goal keeper Stephanie Evans has done what she can to keep the Demons in the game. Evans has 17 recorded saves in the last three games.

Washington’s offense has been anemic this season, scoring four goals in their five games this season. The last goal scored by the Demons came off the foot of junior Stacy Ramirez, who scored in the 28th minute of Washington’s 6-1 loss to the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks last Thursday.

The Bloodhounds are off to a slow start this spring as well, scoring four goals in their first five games of the season. Fort Madison has scored three goals in the last two games in losses to Burlington Notre Dame and Mount Pleasant. Senior Hunter Lowney and sophomore Kalifa McCaleb have accounted for two goals each this season for Fort Madison.

The Southeast Conference girls’ soccer game between the Demons and Bloodhounds kicks off at 5 p.m. at Fort Madison High School.
