With a 3-2 vote yesterday, the Washington County Board of Supervisors approved a waiver of enforcement of separation distance for the addition of a confined animal feeding operation. County Engineer Jacob Thorius explained these waivers have been granted within the last two years and that this site would not impede any future road projects in the area.

Supervisor Stan Stoops explained he voted against it because constituents he had heard from did not support it.

A comment from the public was given; Les Zickefoose spoke in favor, comparing not allowing the waiver to zoning.

Supervisor Jack Seward stated the setback is only required for buildings with 1200 animal units or more. Stoops and Bob Yoder were the two nay votes on the item.
