A former Washington Demon alum cemented his name among the best men’s golfers in history of the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Alex Thode of Lewis University, a 2012 graduate of Washington High School, won the GLVC men’s golf individual championship by nine strokes, shooting a two-under 214 for the three round tournament April 19-21 at the Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel, IN.

Thode is the seventh Flyer to win the GLVC Champion in program history and the first for Lewis University since 2004. His performance at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Championship also garnered him all-conference honors as well.

Thode and the Flyers have earned their third straight appearance in the NCAA Division II Regional Golf Tournament, selected as the fifth seed in the Midwest Region. The Flyers will host the regional event, which will be played May 4-6 at Cog Hill Country Club in Lemont, Illinois.
