After waiting over a month, the Washington High School Archery team has been given confirmation that they will be headed to the Louisville, KY for a second straight year.The National Archery in Schools Program announced Thursday that teams scoring higher than 3099 at their state shoot would qualify for the organization’s national shoot. Washington’s high school team scored 3184 points, meaning sixteen high school archers will compete against the best in the nation. According to Washington head archery coach Jolleen Cerka, the high school archers who qualified for the national competition include: John Sands, Jade Wells, Joseph Dalziel, Kyle Basten, Alex Sinn, Grace Shafer-Smith, Kylee Porter, Chloe Schlatter, Kennedy Hyde, Jake Crider, Shelby Mineart, Jessica Hora, Levi Black,Cody Mellinger, Mitchell Driscoll and Samantha Mellinger.

Elementary students Olin Wells and Kenna Rathmell will join the high school archers at the National Competition after finishing in the top 10 individually at the state competition. Wells scored a 276, placing him third in the elementary boys’ division. Rathmell shot a 261, placing her seventh among the elementary school shooters.

The 2015 National Archery in Schools Program’s National Shoot will be held May 7-9 at the Kentucky Fair & Exposition Center in Louisville.
