Twenty Washington Middle School students took part in the 19th Annual Mt. Pleasant Middle School Honor Band over the weekend. Students are selected for the group by nominations from their instructors, who consider chair placement, previous honor band honors, and solo or ensemble ratings. The honor bands performed Saturday afternoon, along with a group called the Fossils, a jazz band of area directors which includes Washington Middle School band instructor Craig McClenahan on bass guitar, Washington High School band instructor Don Hughes on lead trumpet and Mid-Prairie Elementary band director Norman Brooks on Trombone.
