In search of their first victory of the season, the Washington girls’ soccer team (0-3) returns to the pitch tonight at home against the Fairfield Trojans (2-0). The game marks the Southeast Conference opener for both schools.

Washington has struggled to score goals this season. Through the first three games, the Demons have scored four total goals and this week have been outscored 17-2 this week in losses to Clear Creek Amana and Mid-Prairie. The Demons’ offense this week has been from senior Lauren Swan and junior Stacy Ramirez. Swan scored Washington’s lone goal Monday against Clear Creek Amana, while Ramirez recorded her first goal of the season in a 6-1 loss to Mid-Prairie Tuesday in Wellman.

The Fairfield Trojans haven’t lost on the field this season, outscoring their opponents 10-2 in non-conference play. Freshman Kristin Burnstedt leads the Trojans with six goals scored so far this season.

The Southeast Conference opener between Washington and Fairfield kicks off at 4:30 p.m. at Washington High School. Tune in to tomorrow’s KCII local sports page from results from the match, and look for photos of the game on KCII’s Facebook Page.
