Two struggling girls’ soccer teams will battle for their second win of spring this afternoon in Washington. The Demon girls’ soccer team (1-5 overall; 0-4 Southeast) welcomes the Mediapolis Bullettes (1-3 overall) to town for a non-conference clash.

Home field hasn’t rendered any advantages for the Demons, losing their first four home matches to start the 2015 season. The Demons have been outscored 36-1 in those matches, suffering three shutout losses to Southeast Conference members. A pair of seniors take the lead in the Demons’ offensive category. Kayla Schindler is the Demons top goal scorer with 3 goals, while Lauren Swan has a team-leading three assists. Senior Stephanie Evans has made a team-high 99 saves.

The Bullettes have run into similar offensive problems, scoring three goals in their first four regular season games. Freshman Emma Gordon has scored two of the team’s three goals.

Both teams have played the Columbus Wildcats on the pitch this season. Washington suffered a 3-2 overtime loss against the Wildcats on April 7. Mediapolis’s only victory came against Columbus, a 1-0 triumph for the Bullettes on April 13.

The non-conference girls’ varsity soccer match between Washington and Mediapolis kicks off at 4 p.m. at Washington High School.
