Days after the Washington boys’ track team participated in the 2015 Denny White Relays, the Demon girls’ track prepares for a short trip to Mount Pleasant tonight. The Washington girls’ track team will compete at the Maple Leaf Complex tonight in the Panther Relays.

The Demons were last in competition last Thursday at the Eddyville-Blakesburg Invitational, taking second place among the eight team field. Individually, freshman Kayla Andrew took first place in the 400 meter dash, completing the event in 1:04.51. Washington’s relay teams had a good evening, posting second place finishes in the 4×100 meter dash, 4×400 meter run, Sprint Medley, and Distance Medley. Juniors Amber Salow and Morgan Kimball were members of the 4×100 meter, 4×400 meter, and Sprint Medley teams.

Tonight’s meet will feature several regional teams competing including: Cardinal, Cedar Rapids – Jefferson, Cedar Rapids Prairie, Central Lee, Clear Creek Amana, Danville, Fort Madison High School, Keokuk, Mediapolis, New London, Van Buren, Waco, Wapello, West Burlington, Williamsburg, and Winfield-Mount Union.

Events for the Panther Relays begin at 5 p.m. at the Maple Leaf Complex in Mount Pleasant.
