If there is a hero in your life, the Washington Public Library would like to hear their story. Two people have already taken part in the Your Story project, Debbie Stanton, director of the library tells KCII, the idea is to record an oral history of the community and it fits in with the summer reading theme of “Superheroes” by recording the stories of local heroes or a hero in your life.

These stories can be anyone from a teacher to a grandparent to a local emergency response volunteer. Area residents are encouraged to sign up for times to record with a partner. Stanton’s husband, Ben, has volunteered to record the stories and will conduct the interviews, as well.
