The City of Washington’s annual spring cleanup starts Monday. Citizens can place items out for pick up, which will happen on their regular garbage day route. All loose items must be in a cardboard box or clear plastic bag and materials must be in distinct piles, including recyclable material. Construction materials up to 100 pounds per residence may be placed on the curb, and there is a 100 pound carpet limit.
Some large items will need stickers to be picked up. Couches, desks, mattresses, dressers and other furniture requires $6 stickers. Also, $20 stickers must be used for large appliances including washers, refrigerators, air conditioners and televisions. Hazardous materials, batteries, tires, waste oil and garbage bags without a sticker will be left behind.
