With rainy conditions in the area several KCII area boy track athletes qualified for state in the district track meets in Wayland and Tipton yesterday. In Class 2A the top two finishers at each district meet make it to state, and the next eight best athletes across Iowa in the event also qualify for the state meet. For Class 1A the top finisher automatically qualifies with twelve other athletes qulifying.

In Tipton, Mid-Prairie’s Levi Duwa will be back in Des Monies with his performance in the shot put with a throw 53 feet and 5 inches.

Columbus’s Mauricio Rameriz achieved second place in the long jump with a leap of 21 feet and 3 inches to qualify for state.

In Class 1A, WACO’s Bryce Achen qualified in the 200 meter dash with a run of 22.8 seconds to take first place.

Winfield- Mt.Union’s Gavin Bencze will be going to state after his time in the 3200 meter run of 10:05.19.

Highland’s Jake Yeggy qualified to advance state in the shot put with a throw of 47 feet and .25 inches.

Lone Tree will take three events to state. Jevonte Squiers leapt 21 feet and 8.25 inches in the long jump to qualify for Des Moines. In the distance medley they took gold with a time of 3:45.49 with athletes Jared Hudson, Nick Viner, Travis Gillham and Jake Viner. The Lions also qualified in the 4×100 meter relay with a time of 44.66 seconds. athletes include, Squiers, Hudson, Nick Viner and Ty Schillerstrom.

The State Meet is Thursday and Friday in Des Monies.
