A local historian is on tour screening some of the oldest films in existence. Michael Zahs is traveling with Red Cedar Chamber Music presenting the films Washington County couple Frank and Indiana Brinton toured the country with more than a century ago.

In some cases he’s stopping in the same places they did. According to Zahs, he has the Brinton’s records, so he knows where and when they played and how much money they made.

Zahs says they’ve had 55 performances so far, and have several more planned, including one in Washington D.C. in August. He adds they’re also in talks to present the films at festivals in California and Colorado.

To learn more about the tour and the world premieres that took place at the Ainsworth Opera House in March, listen to our conversation with Zahs during today’s In Touch with Southeast Iowa and follow the links below for our In Touch series dealing with the film collection.
