A public hearing for a budget amendment for Fiscal Year 2015 for the City of Washington will be held May 19th. Last night, the city council set the date for the public hearing. Finance Director Kelsey Kranz explained the budget amendment is for capital projects that overlap years, legal expenses, a new telephone system in City Hall, utilities for the former library building and repairs at the new library building.

Debbie Stanton, director of the library, explained the issues to the council, which include heating and cooling equipment repairs. She estimated the cost for services at $20,000 this year. The amendment will not result in an increase to tax levies in the current fiscal year.
