Picture perfect weather conditions helped the Washington Demon boys’ track team pick up first place finishes in a handful of events.Senior Tommy Peterson claimed his position as the top shot put athlete in the area, placing first with a toss of 53 feet 0.5 inch. Peterson outthrew Mid-Prairie’s Levi Duwa by less than a foot to claim the top spot in the meet.

Fellow senior Jacob Hennigan had the night’s finest performance in the 110 meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 15.06 seconds. The run was .02 second faster than West Branch junior Hunter Wargo for first place honors.

Sophomore Kyle Schindler found himself in the winners circle as well, taking first place in the 100 meter dash competition with a run of 11.87 seconds.

Washington finished with 71 team points for a sixth place finish in Class A and the eighth best team among the 17 team field.  The Demons return to the track on Monday, participating in the Fairfield Invitational.
