One of the final regular season girls golf meet of the year takes place this afternoon for the champions of the Southeast Conference. The Washington Demon girls’ golf teams returns to the course this afternoon at the Mount Pleasant Golf and Country Club against the Panthers and Williamsburg Raiders.

Five of the six All-Southeast Conference golfers will be in action this afternoon. Washington freshman Sarah Nacos comes into the meet as top golfer in Class 4A in nine hole median score, averaging just under 40 strokes per nine holes of golf. She took medalist honors at the conference meet, shooting a five over 75 for the tournament. Washington junior Denna Peiffer sits fourth in Class 4A and second in the conference in nine hole average, shooting 43.5 strokes per nine holes. Peiffer finished in second place during Tuesday’s conference meet. Senior Sarah Waite, the Demons’ final all-conference performer, is sixth in the conference with a nine-hole average score of 46.8. Waite took fifth place in the conference tournament on Tuesday, carding a 91 for the tournament.

Mount Pleasant’s Elle Schleisman is the Panthers best nine hole golfer, averaging 45.5 strokes in six events this season. Schleisman took sixth place at the conference tournament, losing to Waite on the first playoff hole for fifth place. Junior Haley Booton is less than one stroke behind Schleisman, averaging 46.2 strokes during nine hole events this spring. Booton finished the Southeast Conference meet in third place, shooting an 88 for the tournament.

Williamsburg has competed in five nine-hole meets this season, averaging 172 strokes as a team. Senior Kelsa Berkland is the Raiders best golfer in nine-hole events this spring, averaging 45.2 strokes per nine holes.
