Iowa’s high school state track and field meet kicks off today. This year Washington High School had 12 athletes qualify for the Des Moines meet. Competing today for Washington is Macy Marek in the 100 and 200 meter dash preliminaries. The boys’ shuttle hurdle relay team of Jacob Hennigan, Alex Gonzalez, Caleb Bex and Gage Redlinger also compete today in preliminaries.

Tomorrow Hennigan will race in the 110 meter hurdles preliminaries and Tommy Peterson will throw in the shot put event. Also, the boys’ 4×200 meter relay team of Ethan Hansen, Bryce Rickey, Kyle Schindler and Redlinger will compete tomorrow morning. For live results Des Moines listen to KCII Sports.
