A superhero and princess contest, sales at area businesses, and a parade will be in downtown Washington next weekend, along with rubber ducks in the fountain for the 68th Ridiculous Day. Dean Kurtz, also known as Captain Ridiculous, explains the event started with area businessmen wanting to draw crowds into the downtown, and did so in ridiculous fashion, complete with a parade.

He shares last year over 50 businesses participated and they’re looking at having even more this year, with over 1,000 rubber ducks. Kurtz says the rubber ducks start in the fountain in Central Park before being disbursed among the crowd by the rescue dive team, who swims in the fountain.
