Four events for the Columbus Community boys’ track team will start competing in Des Moines tomorrow at the state track and field meet.

Junior Mauricio Ramirez is in three of those four qualified events. Ramirez qualified for state in the long jump with the third best jump in Class 2A at 21 feet and 3.75 inches. Another individual event he will be competing in Des Moines is the 100 meter dash. Ramirez ran a time of 11.44 seconds last week in Tipton to make his mark the 11th best in Class 2A.

Ramirez also helps anchor a 4×100 relay team that has the 15th best time in Class 2A. Athletes include Ramirez, senior Angel Rodriguez, junior Devon Henry and freshman Abel Mena.

Rodriguez will also be competing in the high jump; qualifying for the event last week in Tipton with a hop of 6 feet and 1 inch.
