Here are the results so far from day two of the Iowa Girls and Boys State Track and Field Meet in Des Moines.

6:40 p.m. update:

The Pekin Panthers girls’ track is celebrating a state championship in the girls’ high jump. Junior Kaysha Dodson cleared 5 feet 6 inches, claiming the top spot in the Class 1A field. After 10 events, the Panthers sit in second place in the team competition with 35 points.

Winfield-Mount Union senior Lou Krieger-Coen finished her state track meet as a medalist in the Class 1A discus throw. Her top toss of 121 feet 11 inches was the fourth best performance in the state.

A pair of field athletes from Pekin finished outside the top eight in the Class 1A discuss throw.  Senior Bridget Fritchen’s best recorded throw was measured at 107 feet 4 inches, the 10th best time in the state. Senior Shelbie Williams, the Class 1A champion in the shot put, recorded her discuss toss at 89 feet 10 inches, placing 22nd in the state.

6:20 p.m. update:

The Pekin Panthers boys’ distance medley team placed among the five best squads in Class 1A. The crew of Tyler Copeland,  Keaton Winn, Christian Wittrock, and Ryan Millikin clocked a time of 3:40.39, the fifth best time in Iowa. Pekin sits in a tie for third place in the Class 1A team standings with 25 points.

5:40 p.m. update:

Sigourney sophomore Avery Moore has completed the Class 1A 400 meter hurdles. His time of 58.32 seconds placed 17th in the state.

Winfield-Mount Union senior Karlie Wade competed in the Class 1A 400 meter hurdles. She clocked a time of 1:11.57, the 20th best performance in the state.

5 p.m. update:

The WACO Warriors girls’ 4×200 meter relay team competed in the Class 1A field. The crew of Jennie Greene, Hallie Kissell,  Jalyssa Jepson, Trilby Frier, and Anelique Frier clocked a time of 1:50.83, the 15th best finish in the field.

4:40 p.m. update:

The Pekin Panthers boys’ 4×200 meter relay team has captured the Class 1A state championship. The crew of Tyler Copeland, Keaton Winn, Christian Wittrock, and Chase Copeland clocked their championship run in 1:31.04, nearly a full second faster than the rest of the field. Pekin currently ranks second in the Class 1A team competition with 21 points.

Four other KCII area 4×200 meter relay teams competed in the Class 1A event. The Lone Tree Lions’ squad of Jared Hudson, Nick Viner, Ty Schillerstrom, and Travis Gillham  crossed the finish line in 1:33.15, the fifth best finish in the state. Lone Tree sits eighth in the team competition with 10 points. The Winfield-Mount Union group of Kyler Smith, Levi Giese, Garret Baker, and Keaton Pallister scored team points after a finish of 1:33.4, the eighth best finish in the field. Winfield-Mount Union is in a seven way tie for 25th place with three points.

The Sigourney Savage troop of Bryce Goldman, Avery Moore, Blaine Long, and Jordan Albert missed the medal cut off by four-tenths of a second, clocking the ninth fastest time of 1:33.83. The Keota Eagles round out the area team’s battling in the 4×200 meter dash. The squad of Nate Sieren, Luke Greiner, Jacob Wickencamp, and Ben Horras placed 11th with a time of 1:34.16.

3:45 p.m. update:

Two KCII area hurdlers finish competed in the Class 1A boys 110 meter hurdles. Highland’s Ben Bean clocked a time of 16.5 seconds, the sixth fastest time in his heat and the 17th best finish overall. Lone Tree’s Drew Sides completed his run in 16.73, the seventh best in his heat and finished 19th in the state.

3:10 p.m. update:

The Pekin Panther girls’ distance medley team is among the top three best squads in Class 1A. The squad of Sloan Reighard, Shea Dahlstrom, Kaylee Linder, and Gwynne Wright clocked a time of 4:18.41, the third best time in the field. Pekin leads the Class 1A girls team competition with 25 points.

2:20 p.m. update:

Washington senior Tommy Peterson finished among the top three competitors in the Class 3A shot put competition. His throw of 53 feet 4 inches was the third best throw in the state, one foot 3 inches shorter than his personal record.

Mid-Prairie sophomore Levi Duwa finished outside of the top eight in the Class 2A discus field. His toss of 152 feet 6 inches placed him ninth, missing the finals by a single inch.

1:30 p.m. update:

The Columbus boys 4×100 meter relay team placed in the top 10 in the Class 2A field. The crew of Angel Rodriguez, Devon Henry, Abel Mena, and Mauricio Ramirez crossed the finish line in 44.26 seconds, the 10th best time in the state.

The Mid-Prairie girls’ 4×200 meter relay team finished just outside the top half of the Class 2A field. The group of Lexi Duwa, Emily Cayton, Ali Butters, and Alex Rath clocked a time of 1:48.69, the 13th best performance in the field.

Noon update:

Washington’s 4×200 meter relay team competed in the Class 3A field. The crew of Ethan Hansen, Bryce Rickey, Kyle Schindler, and Gage Redlinger placed 23rd with a time of 1:35.08

Columbus senior Angel Rodriguez has placed in the top 15 in the Class 2A. His top recorded leap of 6 feet 3 inches is the 13th best in the state.

11 a.m. update

Washington senior Jacob Hennigan has qualified for tomorrow’s final race in Class 3A 110 meter hurdles. His time of 14.92 seconds is second in his heat and the seventh best run in the preliminary round.The Mid-Prairie girls’ distance medley team has finished among the top 15 teams in their field. The crew of Lexi Duwa, Alex Rath, Greta Schmidt, and Abby Tornow clocked a time of 4:21.36, the 14th best time in the Class 2A field.
