Healing at English River Outfitters (HERO) will be breaking ground on a new veterans’ lodge this weekend.

HERO provides outdoor recreational activities for veterans. President and Founder of HERO Chuck Geertz says this new facility will help enrich more lives, “Through the program, we’ve put 66 veterans back to work that didn’t think they could go back to work. We’ve saved over 60 from commiting suicide. So, the programs we have do work. By building the new lodge, it’s going to be able to expand our reach to more veterans and families.” HERO received $171,000 from the Fraternal Order of Eagles which will cover roughly have the cost of the building.

The ceremony will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at 2564 305th Street in Washington.
