An amendment is being made to Kalona’s budget for fiscal year 2015. A hearing for the amendment is set for 7 p.m. Monday, May 18th, prior to the city council’s meeting.

According to City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh, they have to take into account the changes to their revenues and expenses over the past fiscal year caused by grant funding and loans. The biggest change is the addition of a $1.2 million State Revolving Fund loan for sanitary sewer work. The city’s estimated expenditures for the year that ends June 30th is around $5.1 million, while revenue will come in at about $4.5 million.

Schlabaugh says the difference will be taken out of the reserve fund, which gives them an ending reserve balance of over $4.4 million.
