Two Kalona Elementary students excelled in a statewide contest. In the Governor’s Youth Action Award Contest second grade poster category , Jeremiah Rempel placed first and Dylan Humphrey took second place.

According to Rempel and Humphrey’s teacher, Kerri Bell, the contest was part of the Live Healthy Iowa campaign, and her entire class created posters that promoted healthy living, from staying active to eating better.

Rempel and Humphrey will be honored during the Iowa State Fair at the Governor’s Youth Action Award Ceremony on Saturday, August 15th. For more information, listen to our conversation with Bell during today’s In Touch with Southeast Iowa.
