When they left Wayland Thursday evening, the Keota Eagles boys’ track team didn’t know whether or not they would be sending anyone to compete at the blue oval in Des Moines. The Eagles weren’t able to finish first in any of the event’s at Thursday’s Class 1A District 10 track meet at WACO High School, meaning the only way  the Eagles could qualify for the meet was by being one of the top 12 times across the state in an event. On Saturday, it was announced the Eagles were among the fastest times in Iowa in three events, including the 100 meter dash, the 200 meter dash, and the 4×200 meter relay team.

Junior sprinter Nate Sieren will highlight the Eagles at the Drake Stadium this week, qualifying for state in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes. His 100 meter dash time of 11.68 seconds ranks as the 19th best time among the 24 person field and his 200 meter dash time of 23.46 seconds is the 15th fastest in the state.

Sieren is also a part of the Eagles’ 4×200 meter relay team which clocked a time of 1:35.26, qualifying the Eagles with the 14th fastest time in the state. The other members of the 4×200 squad includes: freshman Luke Greiner, sophomore Jacob Wickencamp, and senior Ben Horras, with juniors Zach Mousel and Isaiah Hahn as alternates.

The first event for Keota will be Thursday at 4:35 p.m. when Sieren participates in the preliminaries of the 100 meter dash.
