A non-profit that assists with relief efforts around the world will benefit from a fundraiser being held by area churches. The 36th Annual Iowa Mennonite Relief Sale is being held today and tomorrow at the Johnson County Fairgrounds.

According to Dan Landes, member of Wellman Mennonite Church, the organization that holds the sale is made up of Mennonite and Brethren in Christ churches in southeast Iowa, including Wellman Mennonite, Kalona Mennonite and Washington Mennonite Church.

He adds all proceeds benefit the Mennonite Central Committee. The organization provides emergency food, shelter and supplies to people living in areas dealing with conflict or a natural disaster. It’s currently assisting with the relief efforts in Nepal.

The sale, children’s activities and food booths open at 3 this afternoon. For a schedule and information on what will be auctioned, click here.
