The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys’ soccer team (4-3) will look to get their third win in a row today with a home match against the West Liberty Comets (3-4).

This is the first time these two teams have met this year, earlier this season they had a game cancelled due to inclement weather. The Comets swept the Golden Hawks last year, Mid-Prairie’s only two regular season losses.

Both teams have played the Clear Creek Amana Clippers and Columbus Community Wildcats this year. Mid-Prairie lost to the Clippers in their season opener 2-1, while the Comets gave Clear Creek Amana its only loss of the season; 2-0. Against Columbus, Mid-Prairie lost in penalty kicks 5-4, while in the same week the Comets beat the Wildcats, 2-1.

The Mid-Prairie offense has been on fire as of late. In their last four games, they have scored 13 goals, while only scoring two goals in their first three games combined.

West Liberty comes in looking to even their record. They are led on offense by senior Raudel Fierro with seven goal.

The game will kick off at 6 p.m. at the Wellman Recreation Complex.
