Damage to a City of Washington Police Department vehicle is estimated at approximately $4,700 following an intoxicated driver striking it early Sunday morning. Area officials were on the scene of a two-vehicle accident on Highway 92 with two intoxicated drivers, when a third intoxicated driver approached the accident and struck one of the department’s Chevrolet Tahoes and then rolled into the ditch. Police Chief Greg Goodman spoke of the accident at this week’s city council meeting, saying that having the patrol car there likely saved emergency personnel from serious injury and possibly death.

The two drivers in the initial accident, Casey Hagans and Kerin Guardado, were arrested for operating while intoxicated, and the third driver, Felipe Godinez was arrested on eight charges including operating while intoxicated second offense. Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Washington Rescue, Ainsworth QRS, Washington County Ambulance, and Washington Police Department responded to the scene.
