The spring grants from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation were presented at a ceremony in Riverside last night. Board president Mike Driscoll shared 32 grants were awarded for over $747,000. Since 2006, 913 grants have been awarded for $3.1 million. He announced the largest grant of the evening, $100,000, went to the University of Iowa Foundation for the Children’s Hospital furnishings. Last year, Washington County families made over 8,000 visits to the children’s hospital.

Three other grants for at least $50,000 were awarded, including: $50,000 to the Wayland Fire Department for a fire truck, $60,500 to Mid-Prairie Community Schools for elementary Macbooks, and $68,365 to Washington Community Schools to replace the visitors’ bleachers at Case Field.
