The first trip to the state track meet for Sigourney freshman Anna Barthelman will be an eventful one. The Savage sprinter has qualified for three different events at this weeks Iowa Girls and Boys State Track and Field Meet in Des Moines. Those events include the 100 meter dash, the 100 meter hurdles, and as a member of the 4×100 meter shuttle hurdle relay team.

Barthelman’s district run of 13.08 seconds in the 100 meter dash is the ninth best in Class 1A and her 100 meter hurdle time of 16.78 is the 16th best in the state.

She teamed up with sophomore Allison Schroeder, sophomore Sarina Gretter, and freshman Leah Carter to clock a 1:11.08 in the shuttle hurdle relay, the 10th best time in Iowa.

The first events for the Sigourney Savages’ girls’ track team will be at 4:20 p.m. Thursday when Barthelman runs in the preliminaries of the 100 meter dash.
