The Washington County Board of Supervisors unanimously passed a budget amendment at their meeting yesterday morning. The amendment for the current fiscal year is for $2.8 million. Supervisor chairman Jack Seward explained it is a required step by the state auditor’s office. The additional revenues totaled $336,197 and the additional expenditures came in at $3.1 million.
The changes to the budget were due to increases in road maintenance and FEMA disaster relief, contributions to the new auditorium project and Friends of Lake Darling, as well as increased costs for solid waste and recycling. Also, the county had adjustments for early payoff of the tax increment financing loan. The county’s financials also now show the jail refunding bond escrow.
The supervisors conducted most of their meeting without power to the building, as the court house’s new emergency generator was being installed at that time.
