Iowans continue to submit letters of support for and objections to the construction of a pipeline that would cut through the state and a portion of southeast Iowa. The pipeline, which would carry crude oil from North Dakota to Illinois, would travel through Jefferson, Keokuk and Wapello counties.

According to Don Tormey, with the Iowa Utilities Board, objections, comments and letters of support are being compiled as the utilities board reviews the petition for a hazardous liquid pipeline permit that Dakota Access, LLC filed in January. Those without access to a computer have the option to file written comments by mailing them to Iowa Utilities Board, Executive Secretary, Docket No. HLP-2014-0001, 1375 E. Court Ave., Rm 69, Des Moines, Iowa 50319-0069.

A hearing for the permit has not been set. For more information, visit the Iowa Utilities Board website.
