The successful senior track seasons for Winfield-Mount Union’s Karlie Wade and Lou Krieger-Coen will end this week in Des Moines. The two have qualified for multiple events at the Iowa Girls and Boys High School Track and Field Meet .

Wade will represent the Wolves in three separate events at Drake Stadium, including the long jump, the 100 meter hurdles and the 400 meter hurdles. Wade’s leap of 16 feet 1.5 inches at the District 10 meet in Wayland qualified her for state as the eight best in Iowa. Her 100 meter hurdles district performance of 16.62 seconds claimed the 14th best time in Class 1A and she clocked 21st best time in the 400 meter hurdles time at 1:11.03.

Krieger-Coen showcases the Wolves in the state meet’s throwing events, qualifying for both the shot put and discus. Krieger Coen’s district winning throw of 35 feet 1.75 inches in the shot put ranks her 11th in the state and her top discus toss of 116 feet 10 inches at Wayland is the fifth best in Iowa.

The first event for the Winfield-Mount Union girls’ track team will be Thursday at 4:30 p.m. when Wade battles in the long jump competition.
