Three weeks after closing for repairs, the Washington YMCA’s pool is still closed until further notice. Becky Harkema, director of the YMCA of Washington County, tells KCII News the pool had been scheduled to open Monday, but while filling it Thursday it was discovered that another connector was broken. The pool was constructed in 1924 with the original portion of the YMCA building.

Last year the YMCA board unanimously decided to build a new facility, which will be located on 4.8 acres of land on West 5th Street, near North D Avenue.
