An autopsy is scheduled for a body pulled from the Iowa River Wednesday evening. According to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, two campers fishing north of the Hills Access reported seeing a pair of pants and boots in a brush pile at around 8 p.m.

The sheriff’s office, with assistance from the Hills Fire Department, searched the river by boat and recovered the body of a white male who has not been identified. There is no estimate as to how long the body was in the water, but the sheriff’s office says the John Doe appeared to have been in the river for awhile. The body has been taken to the Johnson County Medical Examiner for the autopsy.

The Johnson County Conservation Ranger and Johnson County Medical Examiner also responded to the scene.
