Today is a day set aside to celebrate fathers. While observing Father’s Day the Department of Public Safety’s Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau, or GTSB, reminds motorists to be cautious. A trend has emerged with Father’s Day being the highest single day fatality holiday in Iowa. Over the past 10 years, 42 traffic fatalities have happened in Iowa on Father’s Day. June 22nd, during that same time period, has been the single most deadly day on Iowa roads.

The GTSB reminds you to buckle up, obey the speed limits, watch for pedestrians and motorcycles, don’t drink and drive, and avoid distracted driving.
