From squares to superheroes, comic artist Jerry DeCaire held a workshop at the Washington Public Library this week. Thirty-seven people, from eight years old and up, attended DeCaire’s workshop, which focused on the math and science of drawing, by using blocks and shapes based on perspective.

DeCaire has worked for Marvel Comics, drawing Thor, X-Men, Iron Man, Wolverine and more. In the workshop, participants learned the steps to develop a character by drawing through the figure.

This year’s summer reading theme is Every Hero Has a Story. For photos from the workshop visit KCIIRadio’s Facebook page.
