The west entrance to the Washington County Courthouse will soon be under construction. At their meeting yesterday, the Washington County Board of Supervisors approved the only bid that came in for work to redo the sidewalks along South B Avenue.
County Engineer Jacob Thorius explained the bid came in from DeLong Construction of Washington for $45,924, above the $31,000 quote by the consultant. He added that DeLong’s will work with the county on change orders to help bring the price down where they are able.
The sidewalk project will regrade the area and make it ADA, or Americans with Disabilities Act, compliant. He says the project will make the area safer with snow and ice in the winter.
