A cycling event will be held in Washington County with proceeds going to fight cancer. David Friese explains the first Rock ‘n’ Ride happening in July will have cyclists start in Washington, then go up Riverside Road to Riverside where they can enjoy lunch and kids activities and then they return to Washington. He says the route is about 18 miles each way and there will be support people to pick up participants who are encouraged to go as little or much as they’d like. Friese shares proceeds will go to the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center.

He explains the inspirations for the event are Karen Van Osdol and his late wife, Kim Friese, both passed away after battling cancer. Friese adds he and his wife met because of RAGBRAI and she’d enjoy this event.

The day’s events will conclude with the Rock ‘n’ Relax, a banquet at the KC Hall in Washington. Participants are asked register for the dinner and ride, for more information click here.
