Two struggling Southeast Conference squads square off at Dick Sojka Memorial Field this evening. The Washington Demon baseball team (3-8 overall) host the Fort Madison Bloodhounds (0-11 overall) in a league clash with both teams enduring current losing streaks.

Washington’s losing streak extended to six games Tuesday evening in Wellman, falling 10-3 to the Golden Hawks. Seven of the 10 Mid-Prairie runs were unearned as Washington committed five fielding errors in the setback. The last time the Demons were victorious came on June 1, sweeping the Bloodhounds 10-3 and 15-0 in a pair of Southeast Conference contests in Fort Madison.

The Bloodhounds enter tonight’s league contests in search of their first victory of the season. Last time out, the Bloodhounds dropped a non-conference game against the Winfield-Mount Union Wolves 7-0 on Saturday in a baseball tournament in Keosaqua. A factor in the Bloodhound’s slow start has been their offense, which has produced three or less runs in nine of their 11 games this season.

First pitch of today’s Southeast Conference doubleheader is set for 5:30 p.m. Live play-by-play coverage at Dick Sojka Memorial Field begins with the Washington Hy-Vee Pregame Show at 5 p.m. on FM 106.1 and KCIIRadio.com.
