The Iowa Supreme Court has reversed the Iowa Court of Appeals’ decision to order a new trial for a Fairfield man convicted of murder in 2013. The Jefferson County trial in question ended with 35-year-old Tyler Webster being found guilty of murdering 32-year-old Buddy Lee Frisbie in 2012.

The supreme court’s decision means Webster will continue serving his sentence of 50 years in prison. In January, the State of Iowa, through the Iowa Attorney General’s Office, requested the Iowa Supreme Court review the Iowa Court of Appeals’ decision to overturn the outcome of the murder trial.

According to Jefferson County Attorney, Timothy Dille, the Court of Appeals ordered a new trial due to juror bias. Dille says it was believed that a member of the jury had a relationship with the victim’s family.
