Excess moisture is a problem area farmers are now dealing with. According to this week’s USDA crop progress and condition report, 40 percent of southeast Iowa’s fields are dealing with a surplus of moisture, compared to 20 percent last week and seven percent at this time last year. Between the 8th and 14th of June, parts of Louisa, Johnson and Henry counties received nearly three inches of rain. The surplus moisture has yet to impact the condition of this year’s corn crop, as the majority remains in good or excellent condition.
