The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball and softball teams are embarking on an early week road trip this afternoon. The Golden Hawks are scheduled to travel to Durant for a pair of River Valley conference battles against the Wildcats.

The No. 8 ranked Golden Hawk softball team (19-10 overall) split their quartet of tournament games this past weekend in Iowa City, earning victories against Williamsburg, 12-2, and Central Clinton, 10-6. The Golden Hawks lost to Carlisle, 1-0, and to No. 13 Fairfield, 10-5. Mid-Prairie fell to 2-1 to the No. 12 Cascade Cougars in their latest conference battle Thursday evening in Cascade.

The Wildcats have posted a record of 22-7, winning 15 of their last 16 games.

A current three-game losing streak has the Golden Hawk baseball team (8-9 overall) sitting one game below .500. Their lastest setback came this weekend, a 12-2 to the Cascade Cougars at Kernels Stadium in Cedar Rapids. A pair of wins tonight will help the Mid-Prairie baseball team surpass their win total from last season. The Wildcats (9-12 overall) have struggled recently as well, losing eight of their last 10 games.

First pitch of each doubleheader is set for 5:30 p.m. at Durant High School. Live play-by-play coverage of the River Valley Conference softball doubleheader begins with the Washington Hy-Vee Pregame Show at 5:20 p.m. on AM 1380, FM 102.5 and KCIIRadio.com.
