Two Washington County softball teams are among the best softball squads in the state for another week. The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU) released their latest softball rankings poll on Friday afternoon.

The Highland Huskies (13-2) remained the top team in Class 2A after playing just one game during the week, a 9-1 triumph over the Iowa Mennonite School. Another busy week of action is scheduled for the Huskies, starting Monday with a Southeast Iowa Super Conference bout against the Louisa-Muscatine Falcons at Highland High School. Highland is scheduled to play at Winfield-Mount Union Tuesday, at No. 7 Wapello on Wednesday, and finish the week with a doubleheader on Thursday, traveling to Lone Tree to face the Lions at 10 a.m. and hosting the Pekin Panthers at 7 p.m. in Riverside.

The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks (18-8) stayed among the top 15 teams in Class 3A, coming into the week as the eighth best team. The Golden Hawks have three regular season games scheduled this week including: a River Valley Conference doubleheader at Durant on Monday and a non-conference battle versus the Cedar Rapids Prairie Hawks Wednesday in Cedar Rapids.

The Wapello Arrows (17-4) are also in this weeks rankings, entering the week the seventh best team in Class 2A. The Arrows also have an eventful week, beginning with hosting the Lone Tree Lions on Monday evening. They are also scheduled to travel to Pekin on Tuesday, and host the No. 1 Highland Huskies on Wednesday.
