The top softball team in Class 2A put together a gem Monday evening. The Highland Huskies (16-4 overall) hosted the Louisa-Muscatine Falcons (12-13 overall) in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference bout. The Huskies jumped on the Falcons for 10 runs on six hits, winning the league battle 10-0.

Sophomore Kelsey Hora and junior Cheyann Adamson each had two base hits and scored a pair of runs in the triumph. Senior pitcher Katie Springer scattered two hits over the game, striking out five Falcons in the victory.

It was the eighth shutout posted this season by the Huskies, and the first since a 5-0 victory over the Winfield-Mount Union Wolves on June 19.

The win improves Highland’s overall record to 16-4. The Huskies return to the field tonight, traveling to Winfield for a SEISC clash against the Wolves (3-14 overall).
