A battle of two-win teams took place in Kalona last night as the Iowa Mennonite School baseball team (2-5) played against the Indians (3-11). IMS fell to Wapello, 5-3.

Both teams were scoreless heading into the third inning when the Indians were able to get two runs home to make the score 2-0. IMS cut the lead in the fourth with a run of their own making the score 2-1. Wapello’s offense stepped up in the sixth inning, plating three runs for a 5-1 lead. IMS responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth, cutting the deficit to 5-3. Neither team would score in the seventh as Wapello achieved their third victory of the year.

IMS received a good performance by senior pitcher Peyton Miller, who had 10 strike outs and allowed just six hits in the contest.

Wapello’s sophomore Adrian Lanz pitched his first win of the year striking out eight batters and given up five hits.

IMS moves to 2-5 and will play a double header against the WACO Warriors (1-10) on Monday at Wayland.
