It was the home opener for the Iowa Mennonite School baseball team (0-1) last night as they took on the Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves (3-0). As you heard on AM 1380, FM 102.5, and on KCIIradio.com the Wolves came away with the victory, 4-1.

W-MU got off to a fast start in the first inning driving in two runs with hits by juniors Ross Vantiger and Sam Jennings to make the score 2-0 after the top of the first.

The scored stayed the same until the fourth inning until W-MU’s senior Christian Fenton drove in another run to make the score 3-0.

IMS finally broke through in the fifth inning with a hit by freshman Cole Ours getting a run batted in single to get freshman Reggie Borntager home, making the score 3-1 in the fifth.

W-MU added another run in the sixth inning and IMS wouldn’t score any more runs in the game, making the final score 4-1.

Junior Kolt Rossiter won the game pitching for the Wolves, allowing just six hits with 25 at bats.

Peyton Miller pitched the whole game for IMS, striking out six players in the loss.

IMS will head to Pekin tonight taking on the Panthers. The game will take place at 7 p.m. at Pekin High School.

Winfield-Mt. Union (3-0) will host WACO (0-4) tonight with the game starting at 7 p.m.
