It was a tough year for the Iowa Mennonite School girls’ softball team last year winning just two games during the 2014 season. IMS looks to get the season off the right foot for their home opener today against the Winfield- Mt. Union Wolves (0-2).

IMS lost one athlete from last years’ team due to graduation.

Returning for her senior year is Demi Brezina who led the team in double last year with three.

Another senior returning is Stasia Majerick who led IMS last year with 15 hits, 11 runs, and a .341 batting average.

Freshman Racheal Miller comes into this year after playing as an eighth grader for the team last season as a pitcher for 15 games. Miller had 20 strike outs and a run earn average of 5.09.

The Wolves are off to a slow start this season. Scoring four runs and giving up 23 combined in their first two games in losses to Columbus Community (1-1) and Lone Tree (1-2).

The game will take place today at 5:30 p.m. at the Iowa Mennonite School.
