The first county fair in the State of Iowa is underway. The Greater Jefferson County Fair began Tuesday and ends Monday. The fair was started by the Jefferson County Agricultural Society in 1851 and became an official county fair in 1947. Grandstand events include the figure 8 races tonight, the quad races tomorrow, truck and tractor pulls Saturday, and the demo derby Sunday, which will be followed by fireworks.
