In their first match up since 2005, the Mid-Prairie baseball team (5-6) took the field in a non-conference battle with the Sigourney Savages (3-7). As you heard on AM 1380, FM 102.5 and on KCIIRadio.com, the Golden Hawks won in convincing fashion scoring a season high 21 runs in four innings, 21-6.

Mid-Prairie got the bats rolling early in this game, batting two runs in making the score 2-0 after the first inning. In the top of the second, Mid-Prairie extended the lead with four more runs heading home to make the score 6-0.

The Savages got their hits going in the bottom of the second with two runs of their own to make the score 6-2. Mid-Prairie extended the lead getting three more runners across the plate to make the score 9-2 in the third.

In the fourth, the Savages clawed their way back getting four runners home to cut the lead to three, 9-6. In the bottom of fourth, Mid-Prairie’s offense exploded with 12 runs  to finish the game

Derek Rich received his first victory of the year pitching for the Golden Hawks, striking out six batters in the contest.

Mid-Prairie moves to 5-6 and will head to Camanche tomorrow in a non-conference battle.
