The No. 7 ranked Mid-Prairie softball team and the baseball team will be hosting doubleheaders tonight in conference battles against the West Liberty Comets.

The Mid-Prairie softball team (7-4) has been hitting the ball out of park with 11 home runs on the season. Taylor Kurtz and Amber Kral each have four home runs.

The Golden Hawks will be playing against a West Liberty team (6-1) that is ranked No. 11 in Class 3A. The Comets have four different players who have recorded 10 or more hits.

The Mid-Prairie baseball team is looking to break a three-game losing streak during tonight’s match up. Braden Nielsen and Derek Rich each come in with at least seven hits on the year.

West Liberty is coming off their first win of the year. After losing their first five games and scoring just one run, the Comets scored 22 runs to beat Columbus Community 22-1.

The softball games begin today at 5:30 p.m. Live play by play coverage can be heard from the Mid-Priaire Middle School Complex beginning with the Washington Hy-Vee Pregame Show at 5 p.m. on AM 1380, FM 102.5 and on KCIIradio.com. The baseball games will start at 5:30 p.m. at the Mid-Prairie High School.
